The objective of the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund is to contribute to the effective management of migration flows together with the implementation, reinforcement and development of the common asylum policy and the common immigration policy, in accordance with the acquis of the relevant Union and fully respecting the international obligations of the Union and the Member States derived from the international instruments to which they are party.

Likewise, AMIF contributes to strengthening and developing all aspects of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS), including its external dimension; reinforce and develop legal migration to the Member States in accordance with their economic and social needs, and promote and contribute to the effective integration and social inclusion of third-country nationals.

In addition, it collaborates with the fight against irregular migration, improving effective, safe and dignified return and readmission, and effective initial reintegration in third countries. Likewise, it promotes solidarity and the equitable sharing of responsibility among the Member States, in particular with regard to those most affected by migration and asylum challenges, also through practical cooperation.

The AMIF is managed jointly by the European Commission and the Member States through the approval of programs. For the 2021-2027 framework, it has a total budget of 9,882 million euros and Spain has an initial allocation of 482,341,793 euros.
